Fourteen players open Black Stars training ahead of Mozambique tie

Fourteen (14) Black Stars players opened training on Monday in Accra ahead of the double 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Mozambique.

Fit-again Captain Asamoah Gyan, experienced centre-back pair Johnathan Mensah and John Boye were among the early birds that opened the session under the supervision of head coach Avram Grant at the Accra Stadium.

Adam Kwarasey who is back for national team duties after a two-year break and Richard Ofori of Wa All Stars were the two goalkeepers who were also available for the opening session.

WAFA SC’s Samuel Tetteh completed the Ghana Premier League representation while England based duo Daniel Amartey and Baba Abdul Rahman also trained with the Black Stars team on Monday.

With the withdrawal of injured David Accam, Coach Avram Grant expects to have a full house of 22 players when training resumes at 4pm on Tuesday.

The Ghana FA has confirmed that Grant will hold a press conference at the Stadium press centre before the team’s Tuesday training session. It has been scheduled for 3:30pm.

The Black Stars are preparing to host the Os Mambas in Group H of the qualifiers on Thursday afternoon before traveling to play a reverse game in Maputo Sunday March 27.
