Confirmed: Kwarasey finally returns

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has accepted to make his Ghana national team return in next week’s double Afcon 2017 qualifying games against Mozambique, Footy-GHANA.com has confirmed.

According to our sources, the Portland Timbers shot-stopper has been confirmed as one of three goalkeeping trio which is expected be completed by Spain-based Razak Braimah and Wa All Stars’ Richard Ofori.

The 27-year-old last featured for Ghana at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil where he was dropped after starting in the opening group game with the U.S.A. Circumstances surrounding his drop and Ghana’s bizarre outing under former coach Kwesi Appiah led to his decision to temporarily suspend his services for the national team.

Current coach, Avram Grant, has since his appointment made moves in convincing the US-based goalie to return to the Stars fold and has finally gotten his man.

Kwarasey is currently Ghana’s most in-form and active goalkeeper abroad and his return is expected to boost the goalkeeping department of the Black Stars team.

The Black Stars first host the Os Mambas at the Accra Stadium on Thursday March 24 before flying out to Maputo for the reverse fixture three days later.

Grant has already submitted his over 20-man squad which for review by the Ghana FA Executive Committee and is set to be officially released any time soon.

Ghana leads the Group H table with 6 points.
