Accra Sports Stadium witnessed its largest contingent of Japanese fans since its opened in 1960 last Sunday when Hearts hosted New Edubiase.
The Japanese community numbering close to 100 fans were at the VIP section of the stadium to support Yatsuhashi as his Hearts team beat Edubiase United 1-0 in the opening game of the season.
Kenichi has welcomed the new Hearts supporters from the Japanese community in Ghana, adding that he hopes they become long term Hearts supporters.
“They are as important as some of our new supporters we have gotten recently,” Kenichi admitted on the support from the Japanese community in Ghana.
“I hope they will become like our long time Hearts supporters.”
He added: “There is a long way to go. It is very important for us to regain our traditional supporters as well as gaining new generation of supporters, which I hope to expand beyond Ghana and Africa into North America, Asia, Europe, Oceania, Central America, Caribbeans, and South America.”
Hearts of Oak’s next league game is a tough trip to Tarkwa to take on Medeama SC. The game is live on Supersport and other affiliate stations from 3:30pm.
