Thieves break into Essien’s home in Athens

Michael Essien had his Athens home burgled by thieves last Wednesday, the player has revealed.

The ex-Chelsea midfield star who now plies his trade in Greece with giants Panathinaikos took to his social media accounts on twitter and instagram to make the revelation four days after the incident.

The 33-year-old however failed to reveal details of the robbery attack:

Essien is now settling to life in Greece after battling a niggling injury which prevented him from playing for months since arriving last summer. He has scored once in 12 games for Panathinaikos.
