Gov’t will implement Dzamefe Commission findings – Prez. Mahama

The President Mahama Government has reassured Ghanaians of its commitment to implement the findings of the Dzamefe Commission.

It will be recalled that the Sports Ministry set up a committee which was later made a commission by the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama with regards to Ghana’s performance and off the pitch issues that took place during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Government last year released a White Paper on the report of a Commission of Enquiry where the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mrs. Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, told the Flagstaff House Press Corps that Government accepted most of the recommendations of the Commission.

Almost a year after the release of the white paper, stakeholders are yet to witness implementation of the findings but President Mahama in his State of the Nation Address delivered at the Parliament house on Thursday, 25th of February mentioned his Government was committed to implement the findings from the committee.

“Mr speaker, government commits to the implementation of the findings and recommendations of the World Cup Commission even as we confront the legal hurdles ahead.”

Stakeholders in the sports industry will only be hoping that the findings will be implemented as promised by the President to ensure development in the industry.
