“Defeat to Hearts not a bad result” – Edubiase chief

The president of the Bekwai club has expressed little disappointment in their 0-1 loss to Hearts claiming it was an ‘OK’ performance.

New Edubiase boss, Abdul Salam Yakubu insists his side had given everything despite a 1-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak on Sunday in the opening meeting of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The bankroller of the club is of the opinion, that it was a good result since the core of the team’s experienced players had been transferred. He also praised his coach, for good work on his inexperienced squad of which many had a debut appearance in Ghana’s elite division.

“This is their first Premier League match and I think the team did well. One goal down, I think this is not bad, it’s ok. Kudos to the head coach, he transformed the team. This is a young team and most of our regular players are no more in the team, so it’s ok, it’s not bad,” he told Metro TV Sports.

Edubiase sold the Nuhu brothers to AshantiGold and other key players in the shape of Bernard Ofori and Emmanuel Nti Mensah. This makes Abdul Salam believe his side don’t have what it takes to win the Ghana Premier League but will place a respectable position on the league table and escape relegation.

“We will get a good position on the league table. This season, Edubiase we are not winning the league but place a respectable position,” Abdul Salam mentioned.

After losing 0-1 to Hearts, New Edubiase welcome to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, Ebusua Dwarfs in their 2nd week League game.
