Ashgold confident of victory in Algeria – CEO

Chief Executive Officer of Ashantigold SC Kudjoe Fianoo is confident Ashgold will qualify to the next round of the CAF champions league, but only if they play as well as they did in the first leg.

Ashgold departed Ghana on Thursday night with a 30-man contingent ahead of the second leg of their CAF Champions league preliminary qualifier against Algerian side MO Bejaia.

Tijani Joshua scored to give the miners a 1-0 win in the first leg in Obuasi a fortnight ago. But despite the slim nature of the victory in the first leg, Fianoo is positive his team will qualify, so long as they play as well as they did in the first leg.

“I don’t see why fans should be dejected about the first leg result. I think it’s encouraging. We played very well. If we should go there and play they were we did in the first leg, I don’t think Bejaia will be a stumbling block in our custodial rise in this competition,” Fianoo told Kumasi-based Ultimate FM before their departure.

Ashgold will take on MO Bejaia at 14:00 local time at the Stade de l’Unité Maghrébine in Béjaïa.
