Black Stars, three others make cut for 2015 Glo-CAF Awards

The Black Stars of Ghana have gained nomination for the 2015 GLO-CAF Awards to be held on January 7.

Together with the Stars are three more nominations for Ghanaian players and another for the women’s national football team, the Black Queens for the prestigious African Football awards.

The Black Stars who were runners up at the 2015 Africa Nations Cup after losing to Cote d’Ivoire on penalties in February have been nominated for the Team of the year. The Black Queens on the other hand, made the cut for the same category after winning the women football championship at the All African Games.

Black Stars midfielder Andre Ayew has also made the trio battling for the 2015 African Player of the year award with his contenders being Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Cote d’Ivoire as well as Gabonese and Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang.

Ghana youth star, Yaw Yeboah has been nominated for the Youth Player of the year award with Portia Boakye named in the nominees for Women footballer of the year and Charles Kumi Gyamfi is to be presented with an honorary award as African Legend

The other categories of awards to be made on the night are; African Footballer of the year, Women Player of the year, Youth Player of the year, Most Promising Talent, Coach of the year, Referee of the year, African Legend, National Team of the year, Women National Team of the year and Club of the year.

The Awards night to be held in Abuja on January 7, 2016 was unveiled by Glo representatives and CAF Executive member Anjorin Moucharafou at a press conference on Monday.
