Hearts finally pay off Can Vanli

Accra Hearts of Oak have finally settled their indebtedness to former technical aide Can Vanli, footy-Ghana can confirm.

The Turkish/German trainer was hired by the board of the Phobians as a technical director prior to the final five games of the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League.

Footy-Ghana sources reveal there was agreement between both parties to pay off the former Ghana national team coaching hopeful an amount of $4,000 for his services if he guided the side to safety in their fight for survival in the Ghana top-flight.

But after the final game of the season (on September 13), he received $1,500 of the agreed fee. And now footy-Ghana can confirm that the remainder of $2,500 was finally handed the 56-year-old who was recently snubbed for the head coach role of Hearts at a location in Accra last Saturday.

Can Vanli’s first game with the Phobians was a surprise away win at Liberty Professionals, two more wins and drawn games respectively which helped the club to beat the drop by the head-to-head rule after tying on 40 points with Heart of Lions and Great Olympics who ended up as the relegated clubs alongside B.A United.

He has recently been linked to the job of second tier side Bofoakwa United with officials of the club already claiming an agreement but sources close to the coach tell footy-Ghana a move to Sunyani is not yet concrete. Vanli’s provisional work permit has also expired, on Monday, November 22 we understand.
