35 PLAYERS: Grant reveals his ideal Black Stars squad base

Black Stars coach Avram Grant says he is looking to build an all-conquering squad with a pool of about 35 players that will enable him achieve the targets set for him.

The Israeli who is just marking one year as head coach of Ghana has been tasked to qualify and do better at the Gabon 2017 Nations Cup than he did at this year’s Afcon as well as secure a 2018 World Cup ticket.

“As you see now we are trying to build the squad. I’m very happy that the players I picked before Africa proved themselves. But I want that we would have a big squad.

“In my head, like 35 players, that I have seen them and I know everything about them… The first thing is they will be able to prove themselves in the Black Stars.

“We need a big squad but I need that the squad will be quality and I need one more with players that can deliver and add talents from the CHAN [team], the Under-23 and the Under-20,” Grant told Metro TV.

The Black Stars currently no more have qualifying assignments for the remainder of this year but are looking to play an international friendly in February next year to prepare themselves for an Afcon 2017 qualifier with Mozambique the following month.
