Hearts to land Liberty ace

Hearts of Oak are close to getting the signature of Liberty Professionals defender Edwin Frimpong Manso.

The player was one of the Dansoman side’s bright spots in the recently-ended First Capital Premier League. “I’m in advanced talks with Hearts of Oak and the deal is almost done, we are only putting final touches to paperwork,” Manso told Starr FM.

Formerly of Wa All Stars and Asokwa Deportivo, he was excited at the chance to feature for the once all-conquering Accra giants. Although they finished fourth at the end of the campaign, Hearts generally had a disastrous campaign from start to finish.

Manso’s style comprises all action play in the centre-back role as well as rugged tackling. His aerial prowess is also worthy of note. His lineage is not bad either, as the player is the son to popular football coach ball, Stephen Frimpong Manso.

The elder Frimpong Manso was a key member of the famous Ghana side that came second at the 1992 African Cup in Senegal.
