Hearts’ new trainer promises to win double in his first season

Accra Hearts of Oak on Wednesday unveiled their new American born Japanese trainer, Kenichi Yatsuhashi at the club’s secretariat in Accra.

The 46-year old coach arrived in Ghana last Sunday and will be in charge of the Accra based club for the next two years with an option for more years based on performance.

Addressing the assembled media at the unveiling ceremony, the newly appointed coach stated that he will lead the club to win a domestic league and cup double during his first season with the Phobians.

“I will lead Hearts of Oak to win the double; that is the league trophy and the FA Cup. That’s my target and I believe I can execute it. People will be able to judge the team properly based on what we will show on the field.” Yatsuhashi said.

The former Aspire Academy youth coach also sounded a warning to Hearts of Oak’s rivals stating that he intends to make them all unhappy.

Asked about how well he knew the Phobians prior to his appointment, Yatsuhashi confessed that he did not have in-depth knowledge on the team but was however quick to admit that Hearts is a massive club with a demanding support base. He described the team as the biggest in Ghana.

The new Hearts coach also revealed that he had earlier met with the playing body and he is happy and eager to start working with them.

He also praised the management of the club for having faith in him despite his relative lower pedigree and promised to take Hearts to the level the fans want them to be.

Hearts of Oak’s appointment of Kenichi Yatsuhashi has received a lot of public bashing but officials of the oldest club in Ghana are resolute that the decision is right and will yield the expected results.
