NEW MINER: AshGold confident of Kennedy Ashia capture

Ghanaian champions AshantiGold say they are confident of landing the services of Kennedy Ashia by the close of week.

The highly-rated midfield kingpin, this transfer window, has become a subject of interest between three giants including Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko as he looks set to make an exit decision from Liberty Professionals, a club where he established himself as one of the best players in his position for the past four seasons.

The 2013 bronze-winning Ghana U-20 squad member recently returned from national team duties with the Local Black Stars and is ready to sort out his immediate future.

“We have made advances for Ashia and have established talks with his club Liberty Professionals. We want him to come and augment our squad as we seek to defend the league title as well as do very well in Africa next year.”

“We are very confident of landing the player. The deal could be done this week,” says Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold, Kudjo Fianoo.

Footy-Ghana understands that AshantiGold have sealed an agreement in principle with Liberty Professionals with Ashia expected to arrive in Obuasi to conclude negotiations on his personal terms and undergo a mandatory medical on Thursday.

Meanwhile, dethroned league champions Asante Kotoko have reportedly given up their chase for Ashia after failing to convince him with their offer.

AshantiGold also recently beat Hearts of Oak to the race for Heart of Lions left-back Hudu Yakubu who will be joined by new striker Dauda Mohammed (from lower-tier side Dunkwa United) for their mandatory medical tests on Thursday.
