Ashitey Ollenu, Opoku Nti show up at Kotoko training

Immediate-past Asante Kotoko General Manager Samuel Opoku Nti and out of contract Hearts of Oak forward Ashitey Ollenu were among a number of spectators who thronged the KNUST Paa Joe Stadium to watch the porcupine warriors in a training game Friday.

The not-too-expected appearance by the two comes as refreshing to the porcupine folk as the side made final preparations for Sunday’s semi-final clash against arch rivals Hearts of Oak in the ongoing G-6 tournament.

Opoku Nti was recently axed from his role as General Manager following the expiration of the three-year term of the Lawyer Paul Adu-Gyamfi board.

Ashitey Ollenu

Rumours of Ollenu’s imminent switch to Asante Kotoko were rife in Kumasi Friday morning with some quarters claiming to have spotted the talented forward at Sports Hotel which is owned by the new Executive Chairman Kwame Kyei.

While the Kotoko team engaged a select side in a training game at the Paa Joe Park, Ollenu was driven to the venue and ushered into the inner perimeter and handed a seat from where he watched the friendly.

Footy-Ghana understands the move to sign the player is chiefly engineered by one Christopher, a known club supporter fond of dolling out cash and gifts in their deals. We however are unable to confirm if the move has the blessings of the technical team.

Ashitey Ollenu spent close to five years at Hearts of Oak.
