AWCON 2016: We are ready for Nigeria – Basigi

Coach Yussif Basigi says his Black Queens are ready to face Nigeria in their second Group B game at the Africa Women’s Championship taking place in Cameroon.

At the Limbe OmniSport Stadium on Wednesday, the two West African rivals clash in a match whose outcome could determine the final standings in the group as pundits have already tipped these two heavyweights to make it.

Coach Yussif Basigi while admitting that Nigeria are the favourites due to their achievements in the AWC and are the defending champions, the Queens are more interested in what will happen in the game rather than what had happened in the past between the two sides.

“For us, every game is important so we treat it as such. We know what Nigeria bring to the table today and that will engage our attention, whatever it takes, we want to win and be the first from our group to qualify for the semi-finals.

This will be the seventh time the two sides are meeting in the AWC, Nigeria with three wins, two losses and two draws at various stages.
