betPawa extends ‘Locker Room Bonus’ with GFA to boost Ghanaian players’ earnings

betPawa, a leading sports betting platform across Africa, has announced a substantial expansion of its support for football in Ghana, unveiling new initiatives that aim to enhance both men’s and women’s competitions in the country.

At a press briefing held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Betpawa’s Managing Director for Africa and Chief Commercial Officer, Ntoudi Mouyelo Katoula, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Ghanaian football.

In collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), betPawa will not only continue its sponsorship of the Ghana Premier League but also extend its backing to the women’s FA Cup.

Among the initiatives, betPawa introduced its “Locker Room Bonus” program, a novel system designed to directly reward players with mobile money payments immediately after matches.

This initiative aims to motivate players, ensure quick financial support, and enhance professionalism within Ghanaian football by establishing secure, on-the-spot payment protocols in partnership with the GFA.

The Locker Room Bonus program was a key feature in the 2022/2023 season, distributing close to 600,000 Ghana cedis to nearly 4,000 players.

With plans to boost this allocation to 1.3 million cedis for the upcoming 2023/2024 season, betPawa is set to expand these bonuses to the women’s FA Cup, starting from the round of 16 and continuing through to the final.
