Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum reacted to his side’s 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
At the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, Kwadwo Obeng Junior scored to clinch the three points for the visitors, leaving Kotoko with back to back defeats and an injury to top marksman Albert Amoah.
Ogum spoke at the post-match interview, highlighting the lack of squad depth and the defeat to Heart of Lions.
“We are unable to make any changes to the squad at this stage. Our focus must be on managing what we have effectively.
“Thankfully, we have the youth team, and as seen in many of our matches, we’ve included young players in the squad.
“They train with us, and over time, as we build their confidence and establish our game rhythm, they will be ready to make meaningful contributions.”
The coach also addressed concerns surrounding Albert Amoah’s injury, which he described as serious.
“Albert Amoah’s condition was alarming when I came to the press conference—he needed assistance just to get on the bus,” Ogum explained.
“His quality on the field is significant, and if his recovery takes longer, it will be a major blow to us. But we need to be patient and rely on medical expertise for a clearer picture.”
Asante Kotoko now finds itself in third place with 15 points after nine matches.
The team is set to face Bechem United in their Matchweek 10 encounter, aiming to regain momentum.
