Accra Lions’ struggles at home continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by defending champions Samartex at the UG Sports Stadium in a thrilling Ghana Premier League match-week 9 clash.
The game saw both teams in fierce contention, with Accra Lions initially seizing control through Abubakar Ali, who scored in the 43rd minute to send his team into halftime with a narrow lead.
However, Samartex’s left-back, Benedict Afful, snatched a dramatic equalizer deep into stoppage time in the 90+3rd minute, denying Accra Lions a much-needed victory.
For Samartex, the draw showcases their struggles in defending their league title success last season as they have now drawn five games so far.
Accra Lions, will be cursing their stars for the late drama suffered at home once again. It’s been one victory from nine matches, drawing five and losing three times.
