Fatawu Issahaku’s Premier League success earns Jordan Ayew’s admiration

Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew has praised the journey of compatriot Fatawu Issahaku to the Premier League, hailing the young winger’s determination and hard work.

Issahaku, now 20, joined Leicester City after arriving in Europe in 2022, where he initially played for Sporting CP’s B team.

His talent quickly shone through, helping Leicester secure their promotion back to the Premier League.

Issahaku’s standout performances included six goals and 13 assists, earning him the club’s Young Player of the Season award.

Reflecting on Issahaku’s progress, Ayew, who also joined Leicester this summer, expressed his admiration.

“I met Abdul at a Ghana training camp about six years ago, and seeing how far he’s come is truly impressive,” Ayew told Showmax. “He’s worked incredibly hard to reach this level, and all the credit goes to him.”

Ayew also spoke about his role in supporting Issahaku, recognising the challenges faced by young players in top-level football.

“I’m here not just to continue my own career but also to make sure Abdul is in a good place. It’s not easy for young players, but I was lucky to have guidance from my brother and senior players. Now I can be that person for him.”

Both players have already featured prominently this season for the Foxes.
