FIFA imposes ban on Young Africans SC over Hafiz Konkoni compensation dispute

World football governing body, FIFA, has placed a player registration ban on Tanzanian club Young Africans SC due to non-compliance with a compensation ruling favouring Ghanaian striker Hafiz Konkoni.

Konkoni, who currently plays for Ethiopian club Bunna FC, filed a complaint with FIFA after Young Africans terminated his contract prematurely without settling the agreed compensation.

The striker had joined Young Africans on a two-year deal from Bechem United in 2023, but his contract was cut short after just one year.

In addition to failing to pay the remaining signing-on fees, Young Africans removed Konkoni’s name from the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) system without his consent, exacerbating the issue. Following the dispute, FIFA ruled in favor of Konkoni.

The ruling, issued on October 17, 2024, prohibits Young Africans from registering new players until they fulfill their financial obligations to Konkoni.
