Sudan 2-0 Ghana: Black Stars disgraced in Libya as Otto Addo goes winless in four games

The Black Stars of Ghana got defeated by Sudan in Matchday 4 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Libya.

At a packed Stade de Martyrs, the Black Stars struggled find their way in the game, finishing the first half with no shot on target.

In the second half, Ghana, eager for the win, pusher forward and left spaces in defence.

And Sudan, a pure counter-attacking side, capitalized on the weakness at the back. First, Alidu Seidu and Mahmoud in the 62nd minute.

The right-back failed to outpace his marker and not even the intervention of Lawrence Ati-Zigi in goal for Ghana could salvage the situation as he got beaten by the Mahmoud’s strike.

As the ball headed for the Black Stars post, Gideon Mensah’s failed clearance on the goal line fell to Mahmoud who simply tapped in to give Sudan the lead.

The Sudanese national team extended their grip on the lead by scoring in the 65th minute through Rahman who beat Mohammed Salisu after another pacy move.

The defeat leaves Ghana with two points and languishing in third spot while Sudan have amassed seven points and lie second just behind Angola.

For Ghana, it’s certainly difficult to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco but technically it’s possible.
