Afcon 2025Q: Kingsley Schindler withdrawn from Black Stars’ qualifiers against Sudan

Ghana international Kingsley Schindler has been ruled out of the Black Stars’ upcoming doubleheader against Sudan in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Samsunspor defender, was one of 25 players called up by Black Stars coach Otto Addo for the crucial matches during the October international break.

However, after sustaining an injury during Samsunspor’s 3-1 win over Adana Demirspor over the weekend, he will miss both fixtures.

In Schindler’s place, FC Basel defender Jonas Adjetey Adjei, who was part of the squad for the Angola and Niger games, has been called up.

In addition, two other players, Francis Abu and Ibrahim Saddiq, have been handed late call-ups to replace Majeed Ashimeru and Ibrahim Osman, both of whom are unavailable due to injuries.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have begun their preparations for the first match against Sudan, with 10 players participating in the first training session in Accra.

The players involved include Jojo Wollacott, Frederick Asare, Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Gideon Mensah, Ellish Owusu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Brandon-Thomas Asante, and debutant Isaac Afful.

The first leg is set to take place on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
