André Ayew rejoins Le Havre on short-term deal

Ghanaian forward André Ayew has rejoined Ligue 1 side Le Havre AC after a brief period without a club.

The 34-year-old, whose previous contract with Le Havre expired at the end of last season, has signed a deal that will keep him with the team until the end of the current campaign.

Ayew, a former player for Olympique de Marseille, Swansea City, West Ham United, and Nottingham Forest, originally joined Le Havre midway through last season on a short-term deal.

His five goals in 19 appearances were crucial in helping the club retain their top-flight status, but the Normand side chose not to extend his contract over the summer.

André Ayew expresses joy and eagerness in heartfelt return to Ligue 1 with Le Havre

Since his departure, Le Havre have struggled offensively, managing just seven goals in the league so far this season. Among Ligue 1 teams, only Toulouse FC, Montpellier HSC, AS Saint-Étienne, SCO Angers, and RC Lens have scored fewer.

The club’s struggles in front of goal appear to have prompted Ayew’s return.

Andre Ayew had expressed his desire to remain with the French club, and his return now provides Le Havre with a much-needed attacking boost as they look to climb the Ligue 1 table.
