Otto Addo to announce Black Stars squad for crucial qualifier against Sudan

Black Stars of Ghana coach, Otto Addo, is set to unveil his squad later this week for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying doubleheader against Sudan.

Ghana will regroup this month for matchdays three and four of the qualifiers as they seek to revive their campaign after a challenging start.

The senior national team began their qualifiers with a 1-0 defeat to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane.

These results leave the team under pressure to secure vital points and turn their fortunes around.

Addo is expected to call up a formidable squad, with key players such as Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, and goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi all likely to feature.

The Black Stars, currently third in their group with just one point, are in urgent need of a win to improve their chances of qualification.

Ghana will first host Sudan on Friday, October 11, before traveling to Libya to face them again at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14.

However, uncertainty remains over the venue for the home fixture after the Baba Yara Stadium was banned due to poor pitch conditions.

CAF officials have since inspected the Accra and Cape Coast Stadia as alternative venues for the match.

Despite their rocky start, the Black Stars remain focused on their ultimate goal of winning a fifth AFCON title next year in Morocco.
