GFA Prez Kurt Okraku denies involvement in Black Stars player selections

Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku has denied interfering in Black Stars player selections since assuming office in 2019.

The football administrator was speaking at a hearing by the Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports on the state of Ghana football.

Okraku asserts that any coach expecting player selections from his office or other top GFA officials will have been fired.

“If I hire a coach who expects me to name players for his callups, I will fire him. And I can repeat that.

That’s not the kind of coach we at the GFA will want to work with. Players of the Black Stars are selected by the technical team, led by current Head coach Otto Addo. That’s simple.”

Since Kurt Okraku was appointed FA Chief, four coaches have worked with the senior national team. Charles Akonnor, Milovan Rajevac, Otto Addo and Chris Hughton.

I had no final say on player selection – Charles Akonnor
