2024/25 GPL: Samartex secure first win as Vision FC’s unbeaten run ends

FC Samartex claimed their first win of the Ghana Premier League season, defeating Vision FC 2-1 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday, 29 September, in a dramatic finish.

Michael Ephson’s 94th-minute goal sealed the victory, bringing Vision FC’s unbeaten start to the season to a halt.

Vision arrived at Samreboi in solid form, with one win and two draws from their opening three matches. Samartex, meanwhile, had played just one game prior to this encounter, earning a draw.

The hosts took the lead shortly before the break, with Isaac Afful finding the net in the 44th minute. Vision fought back in the second half, equalising through Gideon Ofori Offei in the 71st minute.

However, just as the visitors looked to hold on for a point, Ephson struck deep into stoppage time to hand Samartex all three points.

Samartex will look to build on this win when they face Bibiani GoldStars on Wednesday. Vision FC will aim to bounce back in their next fixture, hosting Basake Holy Stars.
