Yusif Basigi targets Tanzanian Women’s PL title with Simba Queens

Ghanaian coach, Yusif Basigi is targeting the Tanzanian Women’s League title with new club Simba Queens.

The former Hasaacas Ladies head coach was unveiled as the new head coach for the Tanzanian women’s club on Wednesday, fresh off from his last job as Head Coach of the Black Princesses.

Basigi led the national female U20 side at the 2024 Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia where Ghana won against New Zealand and lost to Austria and Japan.

Speaking in an interview after his appointment,  Coach Yussif Basigi said his focus is on clinching the Tanzania Women’s League title with Simba Queens just as his job demands.

“My target is to win the [Tanzanian Women’s] league with Simba Queens before thinking about the African Champions League.

“I have the support of the club and I believe we will get there with time and determination.”

Yusif Basigi was coach of top Women’s Premier League outfit Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies, winning the league and finishing second in the maiden edition of the Caf Women’s Champions League.

The gaffer opened up on the difference between Hasaacas Ladies and his new club.

“I had to improvise with Hasaacas, but Simba Queens has almost everything in terms of facilities, so I will need them to be professional.”

Simba Queens are current holders of the Tanzania Women’s Premier League
