Ghana government allocates over $2.5 Million to construct National Teams Hotel at Prampram

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, has announced that the government has allocated over $2.5 million to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the enhancement of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.

These funds are designated for the construction of a hotel to house the country’s national teams during their assignments.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Culture, and Tourism, chaired by Wisdom Kobena Woyome, the Sports Minister emphasized that the Ministry will closely monitor the use of these funds to ensure they are directed toward their intended purpose.

“In 2022, when the prize money from the World Cup came, a portion of it—about $5 million—was used by the government to finance our participation in AFCON.

“An additional $2.8 million has been allocated to the GFA to enhance the facilities and build a hotel at Prampram,” Hon. Mustapha Ussif explained to the committee.

He added, “As of now, at the last FA Congress held two weeks ago, the GFA officially broke ground for the construction of the hotel facility for our national teams at Prampram.

“The Ministry is ensuring that the allocated funds are used for their intended purpose.”

The construction of the hotel is expected to significantly boost the nation’s sports infrastructure, offering improved facilities for national teams while alleviating logistical challenges.
