Inaki Williams makes history with hat-trick of assists in Athletic Bilbao victory

Ghanaian international Inaki Williams delivered a stellar performance on Sunday, steering Athletic Bilbao to a 3-2 victory over Las Palmas in the Spanish La Liga.

Williams provided all three assists for his side, playing a pivotal role in Bilbao’s triumph at San Mamés.

The Basque side took an early lead just seven minutes into the match when Williams set up Oihan Sancet to open the scoring.

In the 30th minute, Williams assisted his younger brother, Nico Williams, who doubled the lead with a composed finish.

Las Palmas reduced the deficit in the 58th minute with a well-taken free-kick by Sandro Ramirez. However, Williams continued to dominate, supplying a perfect cross to Aitor Paredes in the 76th minute to restore Bilbao’s two-goal cushion.

Despite a late goal from Alex Munoz for Las Palmas in the 83rd minute, Athletic Bilbao held on for the win.

While Williams, 30, is yet to score in La Liga this season, he has made his mark with three assists in four matches. His performance against Las Palmas made him the first Athletic Bilbao player in over a decade to record three assists in a single La Liga match.

The victory moves Bilbao further up the table, with Williams’ contribution underlining his importance to the team.
