It’s a wake-up call against Sudan and we have to win – Ghana coach Otto Addo

Ghana coach Otto Addo says his side must brace themselves for a tough fixture against Sudan in October.

The Black Stars battle the Sudan national team in a crucial doubleheader for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, October.

Ghana have managed only a point after the two opening games, losing 0-1 to Angola in Kumasi and drawing 1-1 against Niger.

Otto Addo, speaking after the draw on Monday, highlighted the importance of the huge fixture against Sudan and the redemption needed to get back on track.

“It will be difficult again. I knew from the start, it’s just some little margins, little details which can decide.

“It will be a crucial match. We have to win, there is no way around it, and we have to win.”

The Black Stars head coach continued: “If we want to have the chance to play better after, we have to win. We are under pressure, this is for sure and we have to do better.

“We have to improve to use our chances and also to defend better in detail and to learn our lessons.

“Like I said, the goals are too cheap and we have to grow from this we have to learn from this. This is even more than a wake-up call.”

Following Monday’s draw against Niger, Ghana is now third on the Group F standings in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
