Angola coach Pedro Goncalves has criticized Ghana for the poor state of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch after their Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday evening.
The Palancas Negras defeated Otto Addo’s side with a late goal from Joao Felicio to record the 1-0 triumph in Kumasi.
After the game, Goncalves did not hold back as he addressed the shameful nature of the turf despite renovation works from the National Sports Authority ahead of the qualifier.
“We did well with our game plan. Tried to play football but the pitch was difficult. I think a country like Ghana deserves a better stadium with a better pitch to play football.
“Because they(Black Stars) are lovely players so they deserve better.”
Ghana, a four-time Afcon winner and first African side to win the U-20 Fifa World Cup has five stadia across the country.
Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Cape Coast and Takoradi cities house the five stadia. The Confederation of African Football says Ghana’s only approved stadium for international games is the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
