Black Princesses coach Yusif Basigi is tuning his focus to the next game in the Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup against Japan.
Ghana’s female youth side lost 2-1 to Austria in their tournament opener on Monday and will need a victory in their second group fixture to maintain their chance of booking a spot for the knockout round.
A late strike from Stella Nyamekye could not salvage a point for the Princesses and Basigi admits their lacklustre performance in attack caused the defeat.
“We settled late in the first half and should have scored from the numerous chances we had. The girls looked confident in the second half too and were close to getting an equalizer.
“The penalty hurt us but we regrouped and placed ourself in the game again while trying to have the midfield.
“We got stronger in the final moments of the game and tried but well its football, we have to move on, focus on our next game, and improve in attack,” Basigi concluded at the post-match press conference.
Ghana’s game against Japan is scheduled for September 5. The Asians slashed New Zealand 7-0 in their first game at the tourney.
