Ghana to construct modern international-standard stadium – Hon. Mustapha Ussif

Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif says the government has plans of constructing an internationally accepted stadium.

Currently, only the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and the Accra Sports Stadium can host international matches, subject to a certain categories of games.

The Tamale and Cape Coast Stadium are not CAF standard and Essipong is now under renovation.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Mustapha reiterated the government’s plan to continue the construction of sports infrastructure to boost development.

“The government policy is to ensure that every region in Ghana has a modern, internationally accepted stadium. We are ensuring we are working on the regions that do not have those facilities.

“As and when we get funds and funding arrangements are put in place, you will see us in those regions to make sure that they are completed.”

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to improve the deteriorating Baba Yara Stadium ahead of the Black Stars’ crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola.
