Ghana’s Jeffrey Schlupp aims for more goals in new Premier League season

Ghanaian midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp has expressed his determination to increase his goal tally for Crystal Palace in the upcoming English Premier League season, following a strong pre-season showing.

Schlupp, 31, found the back of the net in three consecutive pre-season fixtures, highlighting his offensive potential ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Despite scoring just twice in 29 appearances last season, the experienced midfielder is keen to improve his numbers this time around.

Speaking to Crystal Palace TV, Schlupp shared his satisfaction with his pre-season performance, stating, “I wish I had that form in the Premier League! For me, I managed to score a few goals this pre-season, and I’m happy with how I performed.”

He added, “In terms of a goal target, any more than last year would be good for me, but hopefully, we just have a successful season altogether, and if I can chip in with some goals and assists, I’ll be happy with that, yeah.”

The versatile player also emphasized the hard work put in by the team during the pre-season, expressing his hope to deliver strong performances for the fans from the very start of the season.

Although Schlupp was an unused substitute in Palace’s 2-1 opening-day defeat to Brentford, his pre-season form suggests he is set to play a significant role in Roy Hodgson’s plans this season.
