2024/25 Caf CC: Nsoatreman dominate Elect-Sport in 3-0 victory

Nsoatreman FC began their 2024/25 Caf Confederation Cup journey with a commanding 3-0 victory over Chad’s Elect-Sport in the first leg of the preliminary round, played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Making their debut in continental competition, the Ghanaian side, coached by Yaw Preko, took control of the match late in the first half.

Abdul Rahman broke the deadlock in the 31st minute with a composed finish, setting the tone for what would be a dominant performance.

Just two minutes later, Kwabena Adu Meider, a former Ghana U-20 winger, doubled Nsoatreman’s lead with a precise strike.

Rahman then added his second goal in the 36th minute, converting a cross from Shaibu Iddrisu to put the hosts firmly in command.

Elect-Sport’s task became even more difficult when their goalkeeper, Mahamat Bechir, was sent off in the 54th minute for handling the ball outside the penalty area.

Despite being down to ten men, the Chadian side managed to prevent further damage, though they struggled to create significant chances.

Nsoatreman, despite the advantage, couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities to increase the lead.

Stephen Diyou came closest, hitting the woodwork in the 70th minute.

Goalkeeper Daniel Afazdwu was forced into action in the latter stages, making several key saves to maintain his side’s clean sheet.

Nsoatreman FC will carry a solid three-goal advantage into the return leg, which is scheduled to take place in N’Djamena on August 24, 2024, as they look to advance to the next round.
