Ghana Esports Federation launch athlete registration ahead of Regional Games

The Ghana Esports Federation (GESF) has unveiled a comprehensive registration exercise for eSports athletes, marking a pivotal step in advancing the sport across the nation.

The initiative, which targets athletes under the Federation’s jurisdiction, is set to kick off on 20th August and will run until 20th September, 2024.

The online registration, accessible via the GESF’s official website, is a key component of the upcoming Regional Games.

Following the registration of athletes, regional eSports teams will undergo their own registration process from 10th October to 10th November, 2024.

The final phase of this initiative will see regional game centres registering between 12th January and 12th February, 2025.

Igor Boumekpo, President of the GESF, emphasized the importance of this initiative.

“We encourage all eSports athletes to take part in this essential exercise to help us build an effective database,” he said.

Boumekpo also highlighted the Federation’s commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all athletes, underlining the role of this registration in shaping the future of eSports in Ghana.

The Federation’s initiative is also expected to guide policy development and uncover growth opportunities within the sector.

By tailoring the establishment of regional eSports hubs to the specific needs of communities, the GESF hopes to accelerate the sport’s development and popularity across the country.
