The 2024 Homowo Charity Cup game between Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium was a delightful experience for fans to enjoy their teams before the commencement of the 2024/25 season.

At the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon, the Phobians clinched the title with an 8-7 penalty shootout win after the 1-1 result in normal time.

Hearts’ lineup had over five players who are yet to be announced as new acquisitions in the club’s July to September transfer dealings.

Yahaya Dramani, Patrick Asmah, Mawuli Wayo, Kwabena Boateng, Mohammed Saani, Ransford Mensah and Mohammed Hussein are all players the club are yet to announce.

Probably, Hearts of oak fans can breathe a sgh of relief as most of them have been questionimg the club’s seemingly sluggish transfer dealings for the new season.

Micheal Awuah Mensah and Asamoah Boateng joined from Nations FC, Samuel Amofa from Bibiani GoldStars and former Great Olympics shotstopper Benjamin Asare have been the known additions so far.

Probable signings

Former Asante Kotoko defender Patrick Asmah is a fine player and will compete with another new addition, Ransford Mensah for the left-back spot.

The former Danbort FC player’s freekick resulted in the leveller for Hearts in the Homowo Cup.

Mawuli Wayo who played for King Faisal and GoldStars brings similar quality upfront.

Hearts of Oak has Mohammed Hussein and Mohammed Saani.

Saani played for Division Two side Soccer for Souls and is a graduate of T.I Ahmadiyya SHS in Kumasi.

The young chap was expected to begin his Hearts career with junior side Auroras but after a few days training with the senior team, head coach Abubakar Ouattara felt impressed in his quality.

Saani is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Phobians according to multiple sources.

Hussein played for Debibi United in the Division One League and is another new addition.

The attacking midfielder who hails from Techiman, has agreed a three-year deal with the Phobians and will be announced hopefully this week.

Upfront, Kwabena Boateng is a former Legon Cities striker and will compete with Asamoah Boateng, Hamza Issah and Mawuli Wayo for the spots.

Heart of Lions

On the side of Hearts of Lions, 2022/23 Ghana Premier League goalking Abednego Tetteh featured.

Tetteh having spent time with Hearts of Oak, Bechem United, and Bibiani GoldStars has experience to help coach Bashiru Hayford in the upcoming league.

Also, Kwadwo Obeng Junior, formerly of Hearts of Oak is another new addition. Having spent five seasons with the club, its time for Obeng to impress with his new outfit.
