Black Stars forward Joseph Paintsil showcased his impressive form by scoring for LA Galaxy in their Leagues Cup match against Guadalajara.
The 26-year-old netted in the 11th minute, equalizing after Alan Mozo had given the Mexican side an early lead.
Gabriel Pec then put LA Galaxy ahead with 23 minutes remaining, but Cade Cowell’s late strike for Guadalajara forced the game into a penalty shootout.
Paintsil successfully converted his penalty as LA Galaxy triumphed 5-4, securing their place in the round of 32.
LA Galaxy will now face Seattle Sounders in the knockout stages.
