Low salaries will always force players to leave GPL- Kofi Kordzi

Former Hearts of Oak striker Kofi Kordzi says Ghanaian players always prefer moves outside the country due to meagre salaries from the GPL clubs

Kordzi believes players are willing to transfer to the most remote of leagues across the globe with less focus on safety and acclimatisation due to the desire to earn more money.

Unpaid salaries and low bonuses have engulfed some top-flight clubs in previous seasons and has been a major issue affecting the quality of the Ghana Premier League.

And for Kordzi, who spoke to Asempa, the GPL will always lose the best of players anytime there are foreign offers.

“The Ghana Premier League players as a whole are suffering. All of it is about the low wages.

“That’s why when some players play in the league for a short period, they prefer to go to Togo for better wages to cater for their families.

“The salary gets paid but some teams struggle with consistency in paying while others pay small amounts.

“Honestly, some measures should be put in place so the government can help.”
