Black Sharks secure spot in 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON

The Black Sharks of Ghana have qualified for the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, following a decisive victory over the Sand Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire.

The Ghanaians triumphed with a 5-2 win in the second leg, sealing the aggregate score at 10-5 in their favour.

This victory ensures the Black Sharks’ place among the seven qualifying teams set to compete in the upcoming tournament.

They will join the host nation, Egypt, for the sixth edition of the CAF Beach Soccer AFCON, which will be held in Egypt for the second time.

The country previously hosted the third edition in the coastal city of Sharm El Sheikh in 2018.

The 2022 edition of the tournament, held in Mozambique, saw Senegal emerge as champions, claiming their fourth consecutive title.

Ghana’s Black Sharks have previously finished seventh in the tournament twice, in 2015 and 2016. Their qualification for the 2024 edition marks another step in their ongoing quest for beach soccer glory.
