Atalanta BC has officially announced the signing of midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana from Cagliari on a long-term deal.
This move marks a homecoming for Sulemana, who began his Italian football career with Atalanta’s U17 side five years ago.
Sulemana’s defensive skills were a key asset for Cagliari, where he ranked third in ball recoveries per 90 minutes last season. His ability to regain possession and his solid midfield presence were crucial for his former team.
In a statement following the announcement, Sulemana shared his enthusiasm: “Excited to be back home to Atalanta BC where my European journey started five years ago. Can’t wait to give my all on the field to the people of Bergamo.”
Atalanta BC is currently enjoying a period of success, having won their first UEFA Europa League title in 2024.
They secured the championship with a convincing 3-0 victory over German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
