Black Queens return to Ghana following 4-0 defeat by Japan

The Black Queens of Ghana have returned home after a 4-0 loss in an international friendly against Japan in Tokyo last Saturday.

Led by coach Nora Hauptle, the team, along with the technical staff, landed in Accra on Monday.

However, key players Grace Asantewaa, Linda Eshun, and Princess Marfo were not part of the returning squad as they had already departed for their respective clubs in Mexico, Iceland, and Honolulu, USA.

The Black Queens are in the midst of a rebuilding phase, having missed several recent continental competitions.

Despite the setback in Japan, they have successfully qualified for the next edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled for July 2025.
