FINAL LIST: Nora Häuptle deploys 22 as Black Queens depart for Japan friendly

Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, the Black Queens, departed Accra for Tokyo on Sunday to face Japan in an international friendly on July 13.

A 19-member squad, along with technical staff and management, made the initial trip. Four additional players are expected to join the team in Japan on July 7.

The Black Queens have been training in Accra for the past four days in preparation for the match. Coach Nora Häuptle will use the friendly to assess her players ahead of major tournaments, including the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAfcon) in Morocco.

The match against Japan, a former World Cup winner, is part of Ghana’s build-up to the Olympic Games in Paris later this year.
