Enock Morrison, Danlad Ibrahim deny leading player revolt at Asante Kotoko

Former Asante Kotoko players, Danlad Ibrahim and Enock Morrison have denied reports suggesting their leadership in rifts between the playing body and head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum during the 2023/24 season.

The Porcupine Warriors finished in a disappointing sixth in the Ghana Premier League standings and the contract termination of over 18 players has raised doubts on the relationship between Ogum and the departing team members.

Morrison, had a year remaining in his contract and was gearing up for the 2024/25 season. On the other hand, Danlad having spent 8 years with the Reds decided it’s time to say goodbye.

“I am a young player, have a long career ahead and my future only gets problematic based on the negative actions I make in the present,” Morrison said in an interview with Angel TV.

“There are no truths in the stories that I was a gang leader leading a revolt against coach Ogum. How then was I playing well and performing for the team?

“How do I convince Frederick Asare who wants national team call-up, Justice Blay who is more experienced and Danlad who has been at Kotoko and understands the team culture better than myself to play against the coach?

Morrison continued: “I have never paid attention to these silly rumours. If I had problems with the coach, how then was I playing and even winning Man of the Match awards?

“Because of Kotoko, I have about 7 Ghana Premier League clubs interested in me and I thank the club for that.”

On his part, Danlad noted there are negative reports when Asante Kotoko are in dire situations and he never pays attention as the focus is always on helping his teammates.

“That’s why Kotoko is a big club. These things happen when we struggle. Even in good moments, the stories never end.

“As far as the coach has not questioned your loyalty and commitment to the club, you should never have problems with the rumours.”

Danlad Ibrahim is expected to make a move outside Ghana for the 2024/25 season.
