Salisu Mohammed lauds “tactical” Black Stars coach Otto Addo

Ghana and AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu has voiced strong support for Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, lauding his tactical expertise and urging Ghanaians to exercise patience with the young national team.

With crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic on the horizon, Salisu emphasized the importance of unity and belief in the team’s potential.

In a recent interview, he praised Addo’s strategic approach, highlighting the coach’s past successes and his meticulous selection process.

“Ghanaians need to believe in the young players,” he stated. “They need to believe in the coach because he is tactical in selection, and he knows the best. We’ve seen it in the World Cup, where we had a good game even though we didn’t go through.”

The Black Stars’ upcoming fixtures are crucial for their path to the 2026 World Cup, and the support of the nation will be essential.

As Otto Addo prepares the squad, the emphasis is on fostering a strong, cohesive unit capable of meeting the challenges ahead.

“I think Ghanaians need to believe in us,” he continued. “I know they demand a lot from us, and hopefully, we will give them what they need.” Salisu added

With an average age of 24.4 years, the current squad for the upcoming qualifiers aligns well with the team Addo aims to build.

Ghana’s first game is against Mali on June 6 and a return to Kumasi for the Central African Republic match on June 10.
