“I am thrilled and privileged to be here for the opening ceremony. After winning the bid in February 18, we set out as a government to honour Africa and provide the best of facilities for all disciplines.

“On behalf of the sports family of the continent and the youth of this country, we say thank you to the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“And I thank the former Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah for winning the bid for Ghana and also the African Games for giving the bid to the nation.

“I welcome you all to Accra, Ghana and enjoy the hospitality of this country. God bless us all.”

The African Games has officially started and is expected to end in March 23, 2024.
