Reigning African football King, Victor Osimhen is eager to clinch an Afcon title with his national team, Nigeria.
At the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, football presents itself to one of the continent’s greatest to shine with his nation.
Nigeria kickoff their campaign against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday at the Alhassan Ouattara Stadium and Osimhen wants a good start.
The Napoli star is relishing the responsibility of firing the Super Eagles to their fourth Afcon title as he looks to emulate the likes of Jay-Jay Okocha, Rashidi Yekini, Joseph Yobo and Stephen Keshi.
“Like I’ve said before, if I never win the Afcon for Nigeria, people will question me. And it would be justified: there is a lot of responsibility on me. I know that, and I’m not running away from it.”
“I want to win the Afcon with my country and write my own legacy. All the greats in Nigeria have a title to their name and to be mentioned in that space I must win it, too.”
Nigeria’s group has Cote d’Ivoire who defeated Guinea-Bissau in the tournament’s opener on Saturday.
