Steven Mukwala goal as Asante Kotoko overcome Berekum Chelsea[+MATCH HIGHLIGHTS]

Asante Kotoko recorded victory on match-week 13 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League by beating Berekum Chelsea 1-0 in Kumasi.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the Reds claimed an important triumph through Steven Dese Mukwala’s 41st minute strike.

The win is Kotoko’s third consecutive success in their last three games in the league and their fifth of the top-flight flight division after 13 match-weeks.

Head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum fielded Frederick Asare in goal and Baba Yahaya earned a starting spot.

For Chelsea, Zakaria Fuseini captained the side while Meshack Afriyie led the attack alongside Steven Amankona.

Kotoko endured an aggressive game from the visitors right from the start as both sides surged for the opener.

The opener arrived few minutes to end the first half when Chelsea’s Zakaria Fuseini lost the ball in a defensive area.

Kotoko switched into counter-attack mode and Mukwala connected well to Isaac Oppong’s pass in the 18-yard box.

Chelsea failed to equalize in the second half as the Porcupines balanced their game play between protecting the lead and probing for the second goal.

Kotoko’s next game is arch rivals Heart of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium while Chelsea welcome Great Olympics to Berekum.
