How coach Prosper Ogum regained Kotoko job

Life Patron of Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has shed light on the reasons behind the reappointment of Prosper Narteh Ogum as head coach.

Ogum, having led the Reds to victory in the Ghana Premier League in the previous season, had initially left the team before the start of the 2022/23 season.

With eyes set on the 2023/24 campaign, the club is eager to forge a robust team under Ogum’s seasoned guidance for future campaigns.

During a recent visit, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II detailed the reasons behind Ogum’s return to the helm.

The Asante King revealed that Ogum’s appointment was backed by several of Ghana’s top football minds and the Kotoko hierarchy.

“The endorsement for our new coach came from former players, supporters’ leaders, Kwasi Appiah, a prominent figure in Accra, team manager Ohene Brenya, and others.

“I then instructed them to reach out to him,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II revealed.

“Upon his arrival, I conveyed to him that he was chosen to steer my club. I made it clear to him that a formal response wasn’t necessary, instead, he should gear up to take charge and mould the team.”

“He graciously accepted the charge and agreed to join,” the club owner further explained.

Ogum will be working alongside coaches David Ocloo and Wilson Burton Asare, who will serve as his assistants.

Asante Kotoko has kicked off their pre-season preparations at Beposo, gearing up for the 2023/24 Ghana football season.

The Ghana Premier League is set to commence in mid-September, with Kotoko opening their campaign with a home game against Heart of Lions.
