No Black Stars coach has complained about GFA interference – Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif

Ghana Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has debunked reports of player interference at the Black Stars from Ghana Football Association executives.

According to the government official, none of the coaches under his tenure has raised any problems of interference in player selection at the Black Stars.

In an interview with Asempa FM, the Sports Minister revealed the Ministry had conducted a thorough investigation and found no concrete evidence on the recent allegations.

“None of the coaches I have met in my time as Minister has told me anything about player selection interference from the Ghana FA.”

“If there is no evidence, then it makes things difficult, but yes, these are things that we hear about,” Ussif asserted.

Former Ghana coach Charles Akonnor claimed the top heriarchy of the FA forced certain players in his plans, months after his dismissal.

Furthermore, Derek Boateng who played for the Black Stars from 2004 to 2012 also spoke on the interference from the FA.

According to the former Getafe midfielder, Akonnor called another former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah to vent his displeasure on the actions by the FA.

However, the Minister ending his statement, says the government of Ghana will do everything in its control to uphold the integrity of sports and especially football.
